About us

Waitematā Community Law Centre is one of New Zealand’s largest independent Community Law Centres. We are in a growth phase, with an experienced new management team committed to expanding our reach and impact. To do that, we need great people like you!

Our catchment covers 400,000+ Aucklanders in West and North-West Auckland, from New Lynn to as far north as Wellsford. With mahi that is uniquely interesting and rewarding, you’ll help our clients achieve life changing results and positively expand access to justice in our community. 

Our team comprises nine lawyers based out of our Henderson offices providing legal advice, outreach clinics and education sessions across Waitematā, supported by an administration team.

Our successful applicants for this position will:

  • Be a lawyer with at least six months PQE, admitted to the roll of Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of NZ with a current practicing certificate (or able to be).

  • Demonstrate broad general understanding of the areas of New Zealand law relevant to our clients, including family, employment, immigration, tenancy, consumer, minor criminal and estate law. Demonstrated experience in one or more areas of law is an advantage.

  • Be able to convey (written and spoken) legal advice that is accurate, concise and accessible to individuals and audiences from all backgrounds.

  • Contribute constructively in a collaborative work environment

  • Work systematically to expand access to justice, removes barriers for clients and incorporate our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
